Research has shown that parents are the best teachers of communication for their young children.  What many parents lack, however, are the tools that help get kids talking.  This program provides you with the tools you need to get your toddler communicating. This program has been used by many parents who have their children in outpatient speech settings who sometimes are unsure what they can do at home to provide additional language support to their child.  It is a perfect companion to outside therapies.

I wish I could give a hard and fast answer on this but it honestly depends on the child as well as the parent.  Some children require more time and patience while others pick up on things quickly.  My experience has been that once a child gets to around 30-40 words that are used functionally, they usually take off!  I have worked with children who have gone from no words to two word utterances within two to three months with the average being six months (excluding cases involving childhood apraxia of speech, autism and other medical conditions).  While I can never guarantee that a child will talk, I can guarantee that you as a parent will have a comprehensive set of proven strategies to support your child in learning to communicate

While you can get through the materials in five weeks, you need to understand that you are working on your child's schedule!  Some children respond quickly and move towards words in a short period of time while others need more time, practice and patience.  Upon joining, a new course module will be made available each week for the first five weeks of membership. The modules are 'dripped' in this fashion to ensure members understand the foundational underpinnings of language development and the roadblocks that often get in the way.  This ensures that members are able to truly meet their child where they are at when introducing strategies leading to less frustration for both parent and child.

The goal of this course is not to have you setting time aside to "work" on your child's language.  Rather, the goal is to have you incorporate strategies into routines you are already doing at home.  Children learn best when strategies are incorporated into things they are already seeing and experiencing in their home environment.  For example, adding just one strategy into mealtimes and snacks each day is the equivalent of five mini therapy sessions!  Add additional strategies to other routines and your child will be on their way to talking in no time!

While sound production and motor planning development and strategies are addressed in this program, parents with children who have large vocabularies and are using sentences may find 1:1 articulation therapy a better fit for their child.  This program is really designed for parents of children with limited vocabularies who are not consistently communicating through the use of sentences.

This program focuses on building the skills that ALL children need to learn to communicate.  This course is designed for parents to use at home and can be used in conjunction with other educational and medical supports including with young children who may be on the autism spectrum.  Please note that while AAC programs and strategies are discussed, children who rely heavily on this type of communication modality are better suited to work with an AAC experienced therapist.  

I've worked with many parents over the years who had their child in outpatient speech services.  Often times, they were seeing some slight improvements but were at a loss as to what they could do to support their child at home.  This program is designed to give you actionable tools that you can use at home with your child to enhance their communication skills.  Therapists can get kids to do all sorts of things one on one.  It can be more challenging for parents to get their child demonstrate these skills at home for a number of reasons.  This program not only provides the tools but also the support to ensure you are implementing them in a way that leads to greater learning for your child.
